StashGuard / Legal
Terms of Service
The terms for using StashGuard, including food safety, medication, reminders, and your responsibilities.
1. Acceptance of terms
StashGuard is published by Vensio AS in Norway. By downloading, installing, or using StashGuard (the App), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled; acceptance of these Terms does not replace any separate consent required by law.
2. Description of service
StashGuard is a personal inventory management application that helps you track household items, food storage, medications, pet supplies, expiration dates, schedules, and consumption patterns. The App includes features for barcode scanning, task management, nutritional tracking, and optional notifications.
3. Food safety disclaimer
IMPORTANT: StashGuard is a tracking tool only. You are solely responsible for all food safety decisions. The App's expiration date tracking, notifications, and suggestions are for informational purposes only and should not replace your own judgment. We strongly recommend following established food safety guidelines and consulting with health professionals when needed.
4. Health and nutrition disclaimer
The nutritional information, calorie calculations, and dietary suggestions provided by StashGuard are estimates for informational purposes only. This App is not intended to provide medical or dietary advice. Always consult with qualified healthcare professionals before making dietary changes or relying on nutritional data for health decisions.
5. Medication and notification safety
IMPORTANT: StashGuard is an inventory and reminder tool only. It is not a medical device, medical service, emergency service, or substitute for advice from a doctor, pharmacist, veterinarian, or other qualified professional. The App does not verify prescriptions, dosage instructions, interactions, contraindications, or whether a medication is appropriate for a person or animal.
Medication, low-stock, task, and other notifications are optional convenience features and must not be used as your only method of remembering or managing medication. Notifications may be delayed, suppressed, grouped, silenced, or not delivered because of notification permissions, Focus or Do Not Disturb settings, battery-saving features, operating-system restrictions, device settings, app state, time-zone changes, software or hardware faults, or other circumstances outside the App's control.
You are responsible for confirming all medication names, doses, schedules, start and end dates, and instructions with a qualified professional; taking or administering medication correctly and on time; monitoring remaining stock; keeping an independent and reliable reminder method; and checking that device permissions and notification settings are enabled. Do not skip, repeat, double, stop, or otherwise change a dose based solely on information from the App. If a dose is missed or you are uncertain what to do, contact an appropriate healthcare professional, pharmacist, veterinarian, poison-control service, or emergency service as the situation requires.
6. Data privacy, storage, and backups
Your StashGuard database is stored locally on your device. The Privacy Policy explains online barcode lookups, optional permissions, exports and backups, device backup services, support correspondence, retention, and deletion. You control whether to export or share your records. Exported files are not encrypted or password-protected by StashGuard, and restoring a backup can restore previously deleted information.
7. Permissions and third-party services
Camera permission is used only to recognise barcodes; StashGuard does not take, store, or upload camera photos or video. Notifications are optional local reminders. You can change these permissions in your device settings.
If a barcode is not found in your local records, the app may query Open Food Facts over HTTPS for product names and nutritional information. Open Food Facts receives the barcode and ordinary network information, including your IP address. It does not receive your household or inventory database. Product information may be saved locally. Open Food Facts is an independent service; we do not guarantee its information's accuracy, completeness, or availability. Its data is subject to the applicable Open Food Facts terms and Open Database License (ODbL).
Apple, Google, and any backup or sharing services you choose have their own applicable terms. Purchases, if applicable, are processed by the store from which you obtain the app; StashGuard does not receive your payment-card details.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, STASHGUARD AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR LOSSES OR DAMAGES ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON THE APP; INCORRECT OR INCOMPLETE USER-ENTERED DATA; MISSED, DELAYED, OR FAULTY NOTIFICATIONS; MISSED OR INCORRECT MEDICATION; MEDICATION OR STOCK-MANAGEMENT DECISIONS; FOOD SPOILAGE; HEALTH ISSUES; OR DATA LOSS. YOU REMAIN RESPONSIBLE FOR USING INDEPENDENT SAFEGUARDS FOR TIME-CRITICAL OR HEALTH-CRITICAL ACTIVITIES. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS EXCLUDES OR LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED, OR AFFECTS MANDATORY CONSUMER RIGHTS.
9. User responsibilities
You are responsible for: (a) Using the App in accordance with these Terms; (b) Making your own informed decisions about food safety, medication, health, animal care, and consumption; (c) Verifying time-critical information independently; (d) Maintaining independent medication reminders and following professional instructions; (e) Keeping your device secure, maintaining notification permissions and settings, and backing up your data if desired; and (f) Not using the App for any unlawful purposes.
10. Age restrictions
This App is intended for users 13 years of age and older. Users under 18 should obtain parental consent before use. The App is designed for household management and should not be used by children without adult supervision.
11. Modifications to terms
We may update these Terms as the app or applicable requirements change. We will update the date on this page and make revised Terms available in the app. Where required, we will give advance notice of material changes and obtain agreement before applying them. Changes do not remove mandatory consumer rights or retrospectively affect rights that have already arisen.
12. No warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT NOTIFICATIONS WILL BE DELIVERED, TIMELY, ACCURATE, OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT EXPIRATION DATES, MEDICATION SCHEDULES, STOCK ESTIMATES, NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION, OR OTHER DATA WITHIN THE APP WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
13. Contact information
For questions about StashGuard or these Terms, contact Vensio AS at contact@vensio.no. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that apply under mandatory consumer law.
